Xtremity develops the XtremityTT® socket system, a thermoformable prosthetic socket made from a proprietary carbon-reinforced polymer that allows for rapid fabrication and ongoing heat-adjustable fitting. This technology reduces the time to fit a prosthetic socket to under one hour, minimizing the need for multiple fitting appointments and enhancing patient comfort as limb changes occur.

Problem
Traditional transtibial prosthetic sockets often require multiple fitting appointments and lack adjustability to accommodate changes in the residual limb, leading to patient discomfort and inconvenience. Current fabrication methods can also involve hazardous materials and time-consuming processes.
Solution
Xtremity has developed the XtremityTT® Socket System, a thermoformable prosthetic socket designed for rapid fabrication and ongoing adjustability. The system utilizes a unique socket "preform" injection molded from a proprietary carbon-reinforced polymer, replicating the strength of a traditional carbon fiber socket. This allows O&P providers to fabricate, thermoform, trim, and assemble the socket in approximately one hour, with spot-heating enabling quick adjustments to resolve fitting issues as the residual limb changes. The XtremityTT® system aims to provide improved comfort, convenience, and a more environmentally friendly fabrication method compared to traditional sockets.
Target Audience
The primary target audience includes O&P clinicians seeking to reduce fabrication time, improve socket adjustability, and enhance patient comfort, as well as transtibial amputees desiring a more comfortable and convenient prosthetic socket.
