Their lead compound, PPI-100, is a TLR agonist that activates dendritic cells (DCs) and macrophages by agonizing multiple Toll-like receptors (TLRs), predominantly TLR4, but also TLR1, TLR2, and TLR6. This activation reprograms blood monocytes into anti-cancer tissue macrophages, stimulates DCs to secrete immunostimulatory cytokines, and enhances antigen-presenting activities directed towards tumor antigens.
