Neuronoff is developing the Injectrode, a minimally invasive medical device that uses a simple needle-based placement to create a low impedance path for electrical signals to modulate pain at the nerve level. This approach offers a drug-free alternative to traditional pain management methods, reducing the need for repeat drug injections and invasive surgeries.

Problem
Millions of adults in the U.S. suffer from chronic pain, often relying on repeat drug injections for relief, which can have limited effectiveness and potential side effects like tissue weakening and hyperglycemia. Existing neuromodulation treatments, while effective, often involve complex and lengthy procedures, making them less accessible for many patients.
Solution
Neuronoff is developing the Injectrode, a minimally invasive device designed to provide a drug-free alternative for pain management. The Injectrode is placed using a simple needle-based procedure, similar to a standard injection, creating a low impedance path for electrical signals to modulate pain at the nerve level. An external pulse generator (EPG) delivers electrical signals through the skin to the Injectrode, which then transfers them to the nerve, modulating pain information. The Injectrode is designed for easy removal, either through a small incision or with a needle, offering a reversible way to trial neuromodulation.
Target Audience
The primary target audience includes patients suffering from chronic pain who are seeking drug-free alternatives, as well as clinicians looking for simpler, less invasive neuromodulation options that fit within standard 20-minute office visits.
Features
- Minimally invasive placement using an 18-gauge needle, similar to standard drug injections.
- Creates a low impedance path for targeted delivery of electrical signals to the nerve.
- External pulse generator (EPG) allows for adjustable "dose" of electrical signals under clinician supervision.
- Designed for simple removal via a small incision or needle, enabling easy reversibility.
- Aims to reduce or eliminate the need for repeat drug injections and invasive surgeries.
- Designed to be ultrasound visible and MRI compatible (refer to research page for details).
