Problem
Current treatments for age-related and degenerative diseases often address symptoms rather than the underlying causes, leading to limited effectiveness and a failure to modify disease progression. Whole stem cell transplant therapies face challenges such as inefficient targeting, donor-recipient compatibility issues, and risks of rejection or tumor development.
Solution
Micregen is developing off-the-shelf, cell-free secretome products, called Secretomix®, derived from stem cells to address the root causes of degenerative diseases and promote tissue regeneration. The Secretomix® platform produces multi-component biologics containing paracrine factors like miRNA, extracellular vesicles (including exosomes), cytokines, and growth factors. These factors work synergistically to modulate critical aspects of cellular degeneration, including inflammation, cellular senescence, stem cell exhaustion, and compromised autophagy. By using a cell-free approach, Micregen aims to reduce the risks associated with whole-cell transplants, such as immune rejection and tumor development. The Secretomix® products are designed for scalable manufacturing, long-term storage, and immediate administration at the point of care.
Target Audience
Micregen's primary target audience includes healthcare providers seeking disease-modifying therapies for chronic and age-related conditions, as well as researchers in regenerative medicine and geroscience. The initial clinical target is Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC) in preterm infants.
