Problem
Green hydrogen production via electrolysis faces challenges related to the high cost and limited availability of platinum group metals (PGM) used in conventional electrodes. These electrodes also suffer from degradation under fluctuating loads, reducing efficiency and lifespan, especially when powered by intermittent renewable energy sources.
Solution
Latent Drive offers two technologies to reduce the cost of green hydrogen production. Catrodes are PGM-free catalysed electrodes for alkaline water electrolysis, manufactured using a proprietary electrochemical activation process that enhances stainless steel. This process creates self-repairing electrodes capable of withstanding fluctuating loads, extending lifespan and enhancing efficiency. SeaStack is a direct seawater-to-hydrogen electrolyser stack optimized for offshore installation, designed to capture more wind energy at a lower cost.
Target Audience
The primary customers are electrolyser manufacturers and operators, particularly those focused on large-scale green hydrogen production using renewable energy sources like offshore wind.
