Problem
French e-invoicing regulations require businesses to issue B2B invoices in a standardized electronic format through approved platforms, with obligations rolling out from September 2026. Shopify does not generate invoices in the required format, forcing merchants to manually recreate compliant invoices in their accounting software and transmit them separately, a time-consuming and error-prone process.
Solution
Factorly is a Shopify application that automatically creates a compliant invoice in Pennylane as soon as an order is paid. It converts tax-inclusive prices to tax-exclusive amounts, applies the correct French VAT rates, and verifies discounts and shipping costs to the centime before writing the invoice. When the customer is a business, Factorly also transmits the invoice to the approved electronic invoicing platform via Pennylane. Merchants monitor every synchronized order and any failures through a dashboard, and receive email alerts if the connection drops. The app can also backfill orders from the previous thirty days.
