This practice wastes valuable resources, contributes to environmental pollution, and misses significant economic opportunities for local communities. Additionally, promising circular bioeconomy innovations often struggle to scale from research into commercial manufacturing due to a lack of shared infrastructure and coordinated support.

BEAM Circular acts as an action tank and regional hub that accelerates the circular bioeconomy by leading a portfolio of public-private projects and initiatives. The organization facilitates collaboration across the full bioeconomy supply chain—connecting industry, government, educators, and communities—to scale innovations that convert underutilized biomass into bio-based materials, chemicals, energy, and food ingredients. Its flagship project, the California Bioeconomy Innovation Campus, will provide shared pilot and demonstration facilities for zero-waste biomanufacturing, helping companies bridge the gap between research and commercial scale. By establishing this ecosystem, BEAM Circular aims to create quality jobs, strengthen supply chains, and model sustainable economic development for agricultural regions.
