Avotres is developing therapeutic solutions for immunologically mediated disorders by targeting the Qa-1/HLA-E restricted CD8+ regulatory T cell (Q/E CD8+ Treg) pathway. Their lead asset, AVT001, is a cell therapy designed to restore self-tolerance in autoimmune disease patients by addressing the loss of self-tolerance, a common root cause of these conditions. By targeting this novel pathway, AVT001 aims to prevent self-attack on pancreatic β cells in Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) patients and has shown potential for disease modification in other autoimmune diseases and for reducing chronic rejection of allografts in organ transplantation.
