Problem
Traditional farming methods face challenges related to environmental impact, food waste, and the ability to consistently produce high-quality crops year-round, especially in urban environments or regions with harsh climates. Restaurants, hotels, research facilities, and educational institutions often struggle to source fresh, local ingredients reliably.
Solution
Arctic Farming offers the HERBY® indoor farming appliance, a self-contained vertical farming unit that enables businesses and research institutions to grow a variety of plants, including herbs, leafy greens, berries, and spices, directly on-site. The HERBY® system utilizes hydroponics and a closed-loop irrigation system based on NASA research to optimize plant growth while minimizing water usage and eliminating the need for pesticides. An intelligent control system automates the growing environment based on the selected plant species, monitoring water, light, humidity, and temperature. The system uses Seedpod® growing cubes, which are inserted into the appliance, and a built-in nursery to incubate new plants.
Target Audience
The primary target audience includes restaurants, hotels, educational institutions, and research facilities seeking a sustainable and efficient method for growing fresh produce on-site.
