Problem
Effective delivery of nucleic acid payloads into target cells remains a significant challenge for genetic medicines, hindering the development of effective vaccines and therapeutics against infectious diseases. Traditional delivery methods often suffer from low efficiency and tolerability issues, limiting their potential for rapid prototyping and scaling of vaccine production.
Solution
Aegis Life is developing nucleic acid-based vaccines and therapeutics utilizing the Fusogenix Proteolipid Vehicle (PLV) delivery platform to enhance the delivery of genetic payloads into target cells. The Fusogenix PLV platform combines viral vector and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) technologies to deliver genetic payloads directly into target cells. This technology facilitates rapid prototyping of nucleic acid-based vaccines and therapies, enabling a swift response to current and emerging contagions. The Fusogenix PLV platform incorporates a Fusion Associated Small Transmembrane (FAST) protein into a formulation of well-tolerated lipids encapsulating a nucleic acid payload. Manufacturing of Fusogenix PLV nucleic acid vaccines and therapeutics is done using an optimized single-step microfluidic process, allowing for rapid response development and easy upscaling for cost-effective, high production volumes.
Target Audience
Aegis Life's primary focus is on protecting individuals from existing and emerging infectious diseases, targeting government agencies, medical partnerships, and clinical trial volunteers.
